All of our pigs are purchased as weaned piglets from a local reputable farm are then raised on our farm. They’re free to roam and root around on pasture. Pigs require a higher amount of energy (i.e., carbs) than they can get on greens alone. So we also provide a corn and soybean mixture from a local feed mill. We don’t give our animals any unnecessary hormones or antibiotics, unless medicine is absolutely needed.

Our pork is processed and packaged at ODA certified facilities in Northeast Ohio. We work together with our local butcher to ensure you're 100% satisfied

Buying Hogs From Small Farms Like Ours Substantially Improves the Quality of the End Product Because We Take the Extra time and Effort To Really Care For and Humanely Raise These Animals. There are many options for the way you can have your pork processed therefore we do not include processing in the price of pork. Our price is for the pork only. You will have to pay for processing at the time of pickup. Processing will average

THINGS TO KOW WHEN BUYING OUR PORK

We understand that ordering a custom processed whole or half hog share can be confusing, especially if you’ve never done it before, and we’d like to make it as simple as possible.

Why should I buy a custom processed share?

Custom processed shares are the most economical way to buy farm fresh pork.  You get a variety of pork cuts, including the less common cuts you often can’t find in stores, with the convenience of a constant supply on hand.  You’ll know where your food came from, and we’ll be here to help you through the process.

How much do I get when I buy this way?

A whole hog share yields approximately 140lbs (take home) pounds of cuts. Your actual cut weight will vary based on the cut instructions given to the butcher.  The butcher is very helpful with determining how to get the cuts you want.

How much does it cost?

You pay the farm $3.60 per pound based on hanging weight for the hog. The average hanging weight (weight of the hog after the internal organs, hide, head, and feet have been removed) on a whole hog is approximately 190 pounds. You pay the butcher directly for the processing, and processing costs fall between $250 and $350 depending on selections made. Curing & smoking, seasoned sausage and boneless cuts have additional fees. Your total cost for a whole hog would be approximately 190 x $3.60 = $684 for the animal, plus processing of $250 to $355.
